Partial Terms of Use We are very happy to
provide this site for your personal or educational use. The more people use it
for this purpose, the more successful the site! Please feel free to look up
words in the dictionary on an occasional basis (i.e. at most a few words per
day), so that frivolous bandwidth use is minimized. Students: If
you are a student and want to use some of the site’s content for a classroom
assignment please feel free to cut and paste sections off of the web site, and
paste them directly into your document. All of the pages are Microsoft Word
compatible. Remember to include the “Source” at the bottom of the tables so
your teachers cannot accuse you of plagiarism. You can keep the hyperlinks in
your document without worry. If you want to copy a full page into your own web
site, simply copy and paste directly from the site into your web page design
program (like Front Page or Word). Do
not look at the source code which is a mess (with some funky scripting and
copyright issues). Educators:
You can feel free to add the dictionary to your assignment sheets by either
posting our main URL (www.websters-online-dictionary.org)
or any other URL you wish. You can also add direct access to the dictionary from
your own personal page that your students can use directly. The instructions to
do this are found using this link: Add
Webster's Dictionary to your own site! If you want to copy a full
page into your own web site, simply copy and paste directly from the site into
your web page design program (like Front Page or Word).

Professionals: Lawyers,
doctors and other professionals can freely print single pages as references for
their clients and for their own personal use. They can also cite URL for
professional purposes. If you want to copy a full page into your own web site,
simply copy and paste directly from the site into your web page design program
(like Front Page or Word). Do not

using this link: Add
Webster's Dictionary to your own site! Individual Users: please enjoy browsing and using the
dictionary. You are, like the audiences above, allowed to use the dictionary
under “fair use” conditions. Without getting too technical: "fair
use provisions of the copyright law allow for limited copying or distribution of
published works without the author's permission in some cases. Examples of fair
use of copyrighted materials include quotation of excerpts in a review or
critique, or copying of a small part of a work by a teacher or student to
illustrate a lesson. In general, the copying of extracts that are not
substantial in length when compared to the whole of which they are part may be
considered fair use." Source: Stanford
University Libraries and Academic Information Resources. The terms of this
site require that all users give attribution to this site. All users: This site and its contents are provided as is. If for some reason you object to this site, simple do not use it. We strive for accuracy but cannot be held responsible for any errors in citation or incorrect attributions. Some pages may include content considered inappropriate by some standards for some age groups. We take no responsibility for filtering content based on any standards of morality, religion, or politics. For the full terms of use, please refer to our Full Terms of Use. Heavy users or Harvesters: Please note that all pages have copyright. We do this to prevent harvesting and bandwidth abuse. We also do this because we have licenses for some content that requires that we do our best to prevent large-scale copying. If you want to replicate beyond fair use, please click here.
